Back to School… er… Schedule

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

I have rescheduled the three exams I was set to take. I started to freak out. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to pull off studying with my graduate classes in tow. I really did poorly on the summer class, I took. When I found out I got my authorization to test, I simply put that class on the back burner. I’d go to class with flash cards in hand. A fellow student asked me, “What’s that?” I told him then proceeded to review them during class. Not good. Prioritize people. For me studying overwhelms other activities. Even when my studies aren’t going so well, I seem to be preoccupied with passing the exam.

I called Prometric last week Wednesday evening to reschedule all three exams. Here is my current schedule.

September 3rd, 2008 – Construction Documents (First one is TOMORROW!!!)

October, 2008 – Programming, Planning and Practice

January, 2009 – Site Design

The long gap between the second two exams is to let me focus on the graduate classes. I will also begin studying for another exam and keep reading. But I think offsetting the date will help me prioritize, so I don’t make the mistake I made over the summer. If I don’t finish reading something for the ARE I can put it on the back burner and focus on my business classes.

This is too late to tell you, if you were following along/studying with me but I took some days off before and after labor day weekend. Not only to study, but to relax and get enough sleep. It is really important for me to get adequate sleep. Tell the truth I’ve only put in an hour a day over the last few days that I took off. I spent much of Thursday sleeping! Work and commuting can really take something out of you. Those of you with less than an hour commute one way, you have an advantage. Today, I’ve put in an hour already and expect to do the mock exam in the Construction Documents and Services practice exam book from PPI.
