Um, I really thought I was going to the library on Saturday. It’s two blocks away. I could have walked. I intended to walk. I only started the car, because it was cold. The battery is dieing and I wanted to make sure and start it Saturday to charge the battery.
Well it didn’t start. I came back inside and there was food. Then the car was jump started and I came back inside to eat the food. Then it was 4:18pm. The library closed at 5:00pm and I was sluggish because I was full. Why go then?
In the between time I surfed the areforum to keep my mind on the architectural registration exam. I posted a couple of comments and read through others. I try not to over do it on the forum. (So I also listened to some podcasts from the Architectural League.)
Sunday, well I thought about studying. Really I did. I organized some books. I just didn’t open anything. Maybe I’ll make some progress today. Can’t let a three day weekend go by without a little reading.
PPI
Sounds like you’re burned out a bit. Don’t pound on yourself for not having the “koyach” for studying. One day at a time, one foot in front of the other. If you study when you are really not motivated, it does you no good. When was the last time you took a day and did something fun? Not sitting at home, watching the tube, but something fun – bike ride, hike, a museum, etc. Maybe you just need some decompressing. One thing that might be do-able for now is to just carry those Archiflash cards with you. Stick a stack in your coat pocket, and whenever you’re standing in line, or staring at the ceiling waiting for something to happen, flip through a couple of them. Hell, keep them in the bathroom instead of the magazines!
At least you’re getting some studying in and it’s relatively painless. You can do this! You’re almost there! And I can tell you that victory over the ARE is a very sweet feeling!
You mention a two things that I’ll talk about in a separate and more detailed post.
flash cards: You know I was going to write a post, where I planned to carry around my PPI flash cards. But I said I’d write the post after I actually picked up the cards. I haven’t picked them up!
excersize / entertainment / (study relief?): I was excersizing pretty regularly back when I took the other exams. I stopped. I think I need to bring back excersize into my lifestyle.
