Structures studies begins again. This is, I think, the 3rd time I’ve started studying for my Structural Systems portion of the architectural registration exam. I started on Sunday by sitting down at my computer and going to the AREforum’s Structures section to look for study direction and hints. In the background I put on the jazz station on Slacker Radio. If you’re looking for background study noise, you can try there. The first album to play was “Shearing”. I saw the album cover name, and didn’t catch the artist. I thought how appropriate, “Shearing”.
I’m thinking of getting a new bag to carry less things. In the process I’m picking a bag that fits my study material. I intend to engross myself in structures, so I’m choosing a bag that fits those contents and not much else. I’m downsizing and I’ll have to decide daily on what I need to carry.
A daily advantage I have is my train commute. More than 45 minutes each way, I can get some reading done if I take advantage of it. Plus somehow, I hope to be active and enjoy the warm weather once a week. I need something efficient that encourages studying and being active. Over the next two months, I’ll be carrying around at least three of the following items at all times:
- a notebook to solve problems and make notes, with a highlighter and a pen
- hardcopy flashcards and e-flashcards on my ipod Touch
- Structural Systems: ARE Sample Problems and Practice Exam by Taher
- Any book or textbook I listed before, or 30 or 40 printed pages from a FEMA document or other online document
