About

I got the idea to document my journey for my architectural license, by looking at two blogs I found on www.areforum.org. Those blogs led me to some really thorough posts by people who passed each part of the exam on the first take. I figure, hey maybe somebody would like to come on the journey with me.

So I decided to document my process. You’re welcome to come along with me during this commitment. Here is some more about me and other topics for this blog.

I’m working towards my architectural license and MBA. I have more than five years of experience in facilities operations and more than three years monitoring construction. My current duties involve multi-family construction of affordable housing in the five boroughs of New York City. Essentially, I review plans and monitor sites.

I officially completed a Bachelors of Science in Architecture from The City College of New York in 2002. In 2006, I was motivated to explore the benefits of a Masters in Business Administration. I found few examples of architects with an MBA, but I decided to take the plunge and apply. I was accepted and enrolled in 2007. The Baruch College program has spurred me to develop analytical business skills.

In addition to documenting my path to my license, on this website I hope to develop business principles regarding the business of architecture and the businesses that surround architecture. That may mean analyzing a material manufacturing company or investigating real estate financing methods. The intent is to connect myself, an unlicensed architect, to my profession.
